30 May 7 Content Trends to Know
In keeping with our current theme of trends, we thought it was important to share some of the most relevant and recent content trends. Content may not be “king” anymore, but that doesn’t mean you can ignore it. In fact, content is on the same level as design. Without quality content, your audience may not connect with your brand, messaging, or products. Content is essential to your story and to the success of your brand. Here are the 7 content trends you need to know for a successful content marketing strategy:
1. Email is moving from marketing collateral to relevant customer experiences.
Targeted and relevant emails, such as newsletters, are key in driving and growing audiences to your website and other channels. In a recent study, 91% of B2B marketers identified email as the number 1 success metric for content marketing.
2. Print materials are on the rise after years of steady decline.
Major brands like Airbnb and School of Doodle have launched their own magazine in order to break through the digital noise. The new, more targeted print materials will complement online content while providing stand-alone value.
3. Mobile optimized content isn’t a nice-to-have, it’s a must.
In 2016, mobile Internet usage surpassed desktop usage. Content on websites, downloads, emails, and everything else needs to be optimized to fit the smaller screen.
4. Visual content is just as important for brand awareness as written content.
Communication with your target audience, even on a B2B level, needs to be diverse enough to attract your audience wherever they are. That means creating and using images on channels like Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Snapchat, and your website. Search engines are also getting more intelligent about reading and analyzing images.
5. Video content accounts for an increasing share of the Internet usage and provides brands with an outline to promote offerings, engage their audience, and get their message out.
Creating videos has never been easier. There are plenty of tools designed to help you create the videos. Using video allows your brand to engage with your audience and attract new customers by highlighting your unique selling proposition.
6. Content and messaging is more niche and specific user focused.
Brand messages, blog posts, and social posts need to stop going high-level and get down to the details. Your audience isn’t looking for information about over-discussed topics. Instead, they want content and information specific to their needs and your offerings.
7.Content advertising is becoming more native and focused on the user experience.
Content isn’t being pumped out like it did a few years ago. Instead, the focus in on selective, user-targeted content. By creating undisruptive content users have the ability to view your content while still enjoying their content. This content is also highly targetable, so your specific audience and potential customer base is more likely to be exposed to your messaging.
Content trends are about creating quality content that your audience is looking for.
There is one thing all of the above content trends include: content designed for your audience. If your content is all focused on you, then you’re doing something wrong. Make your story about your audience. Give them something to connect to and you’ll see a world of difference.
