The Results Are In – QMIRA Is A W3 Winner for Website Features

Earlier this week, we announced that we can now call ourselves an award-winning creative digital agency.

Yeah. We’re stoked.

It feels a little surreal, to be honest, because we’ve always just been focused on creating the best possible work we can to help our already-iconic clients tell their story. For this post, we wanted to share the story of one of our favorite projects from last year…

QMIRA

W3 Silver Award For Website Features – Visual Appeal – Aesthetics

Alrighty, so this project was cool, but not nearly as cool as the company we did the work for. QMIRA is a biotechnology company that creates and trains Artificial Intelligence to test, diagnose and provide intervention for parasitic infections and diseases.

Let that sink in for a minute.

This group is doing life-saving work. The technology is incredible. When we started the project, we went over to their lab and watched them scan dog feces for parasitic infections. Totally comfortable with dog piles thanks to our office pooch, we gaped like total nerds as we watched their robot microscope scan a sample and find Giardia, which is an ultra tiny, translucent parasite that is often mistaken by humans for debris in the sample. We even got to watch them train the machine, teaching it which microbes were Giardia and helping it diagnose the degree of infection. Seriously, these guys are the Tony Starks of AI diagnostics. Insane.

Their technology is able to be used all over the globe, across all kinds of industries. Their ultimate goal? Save the lives of humans and animals worldwide. Is there a better goal than that?!

When we asked them about their website design, they told us they just wanted to get the word out, but there was such a big story here, we decided to go with a photo-driven design. After all, pictures are worth a thousand words, aren’t they?

From there, we wanted to use visuals and infographics to communicate the amazing work they do. We had so much fun unleashing our inner geeks and putting together the case studies for this project.

Our favorite thing about QMIRA as a client (outside the fact that their entire team is basically a collection of superheroes) is that it gave us a chance to really work on something that has the power to impact lives. Not to gush, but QMIRA is spending every working hour making the world a better place. We loved, loved, loved being a part of telling that story.

What’s Next?

We’ve had a lot of fun projects with many great clients here in 2018. Now that we’ve got a few awards under our belt, we’ve decided maybe we’ll try for a few others, too. As for our hardware, we’re still waiting for those to come in the mail, but we’ll post some selfies as soon as they arrive. Our plan is to pop ‘em up on the shelf right next to our chili cook-off trophies… because let’s be real, those chili trophies are pretty prestigious.
